Doug Pontsler Awarded NSC’s Distinguished Service to Safety Award

COVE’s very own Chairman and Managing Director, Doug Pontsler, has been awarded National Safety Council’s Distinguished Service to Safety Award on September 9, 2019 at their annual Congress and Expo in San Diego, CA. The award first presented in 1942 to recognize advancements in worker safety during World War II, recognizes outstanding service and contributions to the field of safety. It is the most prestigious award given to individuals by the National Safety Council.

Doug was previously vice president of operations sustainability and environmental, health and safety (EHS) for Owens Corning, the first major organization to embrace Visual Literacy and work closely with the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) to incorporate its concepts into company safety practices. Prior to Owens Corning, Doug spent 23 years with Eaton Corporation where he held various roles of increasing responsibilities in accounting, finance, production and inventory control management, factory management, and sourcing.

On behalf of the dedicated and skilled staff of COVE, and our partners at TMA, I am honored to receive this award. Improving our ability to see, interpret and act on what we see are vital skills for workers in all industries, and we are proud to advance this innovative approach to improving the safety and performance in organizations of all sizes.Doug Pontsler, COVE Chairman and Managing Director
